Thousands of workers in the automobile sector lose their fingers and hands in building our cars in the Gurgaon-Manesar Industrial Belt. SafeInIndia Team commissioned a research through Agrasar, a Gurgaon-based not for profit organisation, to document and analyse 20 such accidents to understand this multi-dimensional problem.
The day will start with a performance from Manzil Mystics, followed by the launch of the SafeInIndia's Research including a presentation on the findings and the initial recommendations on the way forward.
Post-launch, we will have an interactive panel discussion moderated by the eminent journalist and Founding Editor of www.thewire.in, Mr Siddharth Varadarajan. This discussion will focus on finding practical solutions, for worker safety in automobile sector, which are win-win, sustainable and scalable. The panel will consist of various senior stakeholders from the industry, relevant civil society organisations and subject matter experts, including Mr MM Singh, Director, Maruti Centre of Excellence, Mr Vinnie Mehta, Director General, Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India, Mr. Sunder Rajan, CEO & President, Sona Koyo, Mr Rajiv Khandelwal, CEO, Aajeevika Bureau, a leader in the area of improving the lives of migrant workers and Mr Atul Batra, Director, Arjan Auto Ltd, an auto component manufacturer.
