Full time/Part-time consulting/Volunteering roles:

1. Communications Officer – Safe in India Foundation

SII, a Community Service Organisation, founded by alumni of IIMA, and advised by a senior Council of Advisors, is engaged in three key social-impact areas:

(a) assisting workers injured in Gurgaon-Faridabad factories with their ESIC healthcare and compensation,

(b) using this experience to help improve ESIC processes for about 14 crore Indians depending directly or indirectly on ESIC and,
(c) using this evidence to improve safety in Indian auto-sector supply chain factories and to reduce such accidents for more than one 3 crore workers.


Since 2016, SII has assisted almost 3,000+ workers with healthcare and compensations (value in excess of Rs 230 crores), influenced ESIC in numerous process improvements, and started accident prevention initiatives with a number of auto-sector brands, Central/State ministries, their relevant agencies, and the auto-sector and its apex associations. Job Role

The Communications Officer role, reporting to the Co-Founder & CEO, and member of SII’s Senior Management Team (SMT), will strategize and execute SII’s communication strategy for its social media platforms: Hindi Facebook, English Facebook, YouTube Channel Twitter; and, for its face-to-face interactions with workers through its Worker Assistance Centers.

This is a highly impactful and scalable role that needs to make a real difference in the lives of the Indian migrant worker community. The applicant should be a self-starter, with a desire and hunger to be part of a long-term change, and a believer in quality communication, willing to experiment and learn, able to work with SII’s senior peers and Council of Advisors.

Required skillsets

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Hindi.

  • Good writing and editing skills and attention to detail are a must and quality. Minimum words-Maximum impact.

  • Experience in Graphic designing is a must. Good knowledge of software such as Corel draw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign is required. A good technical understanding of online software such as Canva is desirable.

  • Excellent knowledge of social media best practices is a must and desire/energy to use it to influence Hindi and English-speaking audiences.

  • Good editing, design, videography, and photography skills.

  • Working knowledge of online or offline video editing software such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, After effect, Biteable.

  • Willingness to support and engage with the health and safety-related issues of the work with injured factory workers, most of whom are migrants.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Understand SII’s brand positioning among its stakeholders – workers, government, auto-sector brands, and supporters, and continue developing SII’s strategy to engage with them, impactfully, to deliver SII’s worker-centric goals.

  • Generate high-quality graphic designing creatives like infographics and other types of Social Media posts for Hindi and English audiences.

  • Write captions, calls of action, and copies for social media creatives, and scripts for short videos.

  • Rewrite-edit case studies, beneficiary stories for blog, social media, and reports.

  • Handle social media platforms of Safe in India (YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter) including creating and execute social media strategy through competitive research, platform determination, benchmarking, messaging, and audience identification

  • Engage with local & celebrity influencers, media, and other important stakeholders for the promotion of the cause.

  • Support creative excellence through assisting vendors in website management, video creation, producing high-quality photographs for reports.

  • In accordance with the program team, prepares Reports, leaflets, brochures, and other publicity materials.

  • Curate and manage videos and photographs.

Ideally Gurgaon or within an hour commute from Gurgaon. The work can be home-based but visits to Manesar and Faridabad Worker Assistance Centers will be required once or twice a week depending on the need. The role can also be based at Worker Assistance Centres, should that be preferred by the candidate.

2. Other Part-Time Paid/Volunteer Roles:

We are looking for passionate part-time assistance (depending on seniority, experience and delivery commitment, we will offer an honorarium) in the following areas. Location ideally Gurgaon/Manesar/Delhi though some of these roles can be done remotely.

1. Industrial Safety especially on Power Presses.

2. Indian Labour Laws, Factory Act and other laws relevant to our work.

3. Research/Surveys, data collection, data-analysis and presentation.


4. Digital Marketing/Social media/web-site management to improve our digital presence among various stakeholders including Hindi speaking workers.

5. Communication collateral for workers in Hindi/Oriya.

6. Management of contact with Investors in Indian auto-sector to push the safety agenda.

7. Training especially for Industrial workers (we need your soft training skills; we can provide content).

8. Senior contacts in government (ideally retired IAS, etc officers who now want to give back to the society)

9. Creating Audio-visual content eg. build a storyline with us, shoot content and create short videos.

10. SME factory experience and contacts in Gurgaon-Manesar especially in auto-sector manufacturing.

11. RTI (Right to Information) to obtain information from government departments.

12. Fund-Raising of donations from individuals/CSR (Indian passport holders only can donate to us). We do not pay commissions on donations received so CSR-agents need not contact us.
