On SII’s request, the ISH-Maruti-Hero-Honda-SII platform has directed its Haryana-based automotive brands (Maruti, Hero, Honda) to re-audit Tier 2 suppliers and share the findings to compare current safety compliance with previous assessments.

SII is working with UNDP's B+HR Academy and ACMA to run workshops for the automotive sector on the UN Guiding Principles (UNGPs) and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD), covering risk identification, policy commitments, and grievance mechanisms.

SII’s recommendations on “worker safety is good for Indian business and economy” has been included in India’s Economic Survey 2024-25 in the chapter “Employment and Skill Development: Existential Priorities” (p.387-389).

SII successfully advocated for the adoption of ISO 16092 Parts 2 & 4 as new BIS standards (IS 17277 Parts 2 & 4), enhancing safety rules for mechanical and pneumatic power presses.

SII constant push led to publishing of Machinery and Electrical Equipment Safety (Omnibus Technical Regulation) Order, 2024 draft which included IS Standard IS 17277 (ISO standards 16092 part 1). Now, SII is now pushing for including IS 17277 parts 2 & 4 which deal with mechanical presses and pneumatic presses.
